Philosophy of Nursing

According to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, a nurse is a licensed health-care professional who is skilled in promoting and maintaining health. To me, nursing is so much more than that. Nursing is a dedication to improving the health and lifestyle of patients and their families. It is the positive impact that is left on each person you touch. It is my passion for helping others that has lead me to choose a career in Nursing.

For most of my life I wanted to be a doctor. I have always had an interest in the medical field and all through high school I was planning on attending medical school. When I began college, my focus shifted and I chose another career path. For the last five years I have been working in the Hospitality field in private events. While I enjoy that field of work, my true passion for medicine leaves me yearning for more. In 2009 I decided Nursing was the path for me. After completing my prerequisites, here I am a Student Nurse at Tallahassee Community College.

As of right now, I believe I would like to work in Pediatrics. I have always loved working with children in every aspect.  Their innocence and inabilities to care for themselves calls to me to assist. I am very excited, however, to explore the different areas of nursing and what they have to offer.
